I know it’s been awhile since my last post. I assure everyone my desire to build a tiny home has not waned. I told myself when I began on the tiny house path that The Rusted Nail business will always come first. The last few months has been extremely busy at the shop with vanities, bars, and beds being designed, built and delivered. As summer has heated up, the custom furniture orders have cooled off a bit. This means I can finally spend more time planning and building the Tiny home, until orders pick up again.

While building furniture the strategy for the tiny house has changed a bit. The last time we spoke, the plan was to convert an old FEMA trailer into the tiny house. This required tearing it down to the frame and rebuilding on top of a reinforced trailer frame. The plan now is to merely gut the inside, rearrange and remodel the interior and refinish the exterior. Doing this will allow me to have an inhabitable home quicker and cheaper. The money saved will also allow me to build the original tiny home design on a custom built tiny house trailer. The main advantage to this will be that I will then be able to use the new Tiny house as a marketing tool. I should be able to rent it out to potential customers or the tiny home curious. I plan to travel to different shows and tiny home events to advertise and to hopefully gain customers.
So with all that being said, I was able to travel to Alabama last week to disconnect and haul the trailer back to The Rusted Nail shop. I have done many sketches and we have begun the demo portion to see what all we are working with. Stay tuned for progress photos and final design choices
