I may have Tiny House ADD

So unfortunately not much headway has been made in the last week in regards to the FEMA renovation. I have found I get distracted easily, and it seems as though I have spent entirely too much time thinking and planning the Tiny House community idea. But hey it could be awesome and lucrative. This all just means you get a blog post on the Tiny house community idea.
From a business point of view I am now thinking a tiny house hotel may be a better idea than a community. I came across a startup in the Boston and New York areas called Getaway. They have a few tiny houses located a few hours’ drive outside of the cities that people come to on the weekends to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. From the looks of it they are doing quite well, and with Gordon county being located about an hour from both Atlanta and Chattanooga I can see it being successful here as well. If you have never been to Gordon County Georgia, I highly recommend it. The county has a beautiful countryside with rolling hills, amazing views of the mountains all around and rivers, streams and lakes aplenty to keep you entertained.

The Preferred lot
Being in the old barn demolition business, I spend a lot of time cruising the small two lane back roads. I have assembled a bit of mental inventory over the years of the more beautiful locations and which ones may potentially be for sale. My first choice is a slice of land is located on the Cossawatte river. To me the site is perfect for a getaway, its secluded, quiet, and located on the river with plenty of wildlife and the potential to put in a canoe/kayak ramp. There is also enough land that we could put a number of tiny homes on site and have them not feel like they are directly on top of each other.

The Tiny homes
Preferably The Rusted Nail would design and build a majority of the tiny homes on the site. But it could also be interesting to have a few tiny homes designed and built by other companies as well to showcase the potential and diversity of tiny homes. The tiny homes themselves would vary in styles from modern contemporary to classic country and everything in between. Doing this should help bring people back for more visits as they may choose to stay in a different style home each time to a get unique experience each time. Each home would have their own private outdoor area, but there would also be a “public” tiny house that can be used as a gathering place similar to a hotel lobby and bar/restaurant.
Funds
This of course is all just an idea. If I cannot find a way to raise the funds necessary to make it a reality it is just a fun idea to plan and think about. I am not a business major but I have run some numbers and truly believe this could be a successful and profitable business plan in a relatively short amount of time. So for now I will continue to design, plan and get back to work on the FEMA.
